World Famous National Parks and more..

The Abel Tasman National Park, Kahurangi National Park – the second largest in New Zealand, and Nelson Lakes National Park are all close by. With pristine, lagoon like beaches, expansive lakes, a diverse range of tracks, paths, walkways and interpretive trails, camping spots, lodges and huts all awaiting your adventures.

Abel Tasman is our personal favourite. Take a water taxi out to one of the southern bays of the Abel Tasman track and walk back to the Cafe at the trail head – that’s our recommendation for a great, easy day out. Or for the more adventurous, take a guided overnight sea kayak trip. More details here.

If you are looking for beaches or swimming holes, the closest spots are:

  • Mapua – river mouth, fast moving water that children use  to float after jumping off the wharf.
  • Kaiteriteri  and Little Kaiteriteri – pristine golden sand beach – 35 minutes
  • Motueka River – 15 mintues
  • Rabbit Island – 20 minutes. Long stretch of beach with picnicking areas and BBQ’s provided. Toilets and showers available.
  • Ruby Bay, 15 minutes. – not good for swiming at low tide.

For the equestrian enthusiast, we have Horse riding and Pony Trekking in Blackbird Valley just 5 minutes away.
